Kiwi asks…

What is “made-up”? Could you give some examples?

Answer from a Native speaker

teacher

Rebecca

"Made-up" here means "imaginary", "pretend", or "fake". It's something that someone invented that either isn't real or isn't correct. Ex: The story in the movie isn't real, it's a made-up story. Ex: He wrote a made-up name on his name tag because didn't want anyone to know his real name. Ex: That's a made-up word, it doesn't exist.
