Kiwi asks…
What does "put it on [someone's] account" mean? In what circumstances could I use it?

When you "put something on your account", it means that the shop, store, or restaurant will keep a record of everything you purchase to be paid off at the end of the month or season- depending on the shop rules. So then that amount of cash will be paid off all at once, rather than each time you go. Although, it can cause problems if people don't pay off their accounts. You can say this phrase if a place lets you have an account at their establishment. Ex: I didn't have cash for the pharmacist, so they put it on my account. I'll pay it back later. Ex: Ma'am, can you put these clothes on my account for me, please?
