Kiwi asks…

What does "speak one's mind" mean?

Answer from a Native speaker

teacher

Rebecca

To "speak one's mind" is an idiomatic phrase that means to say whatever is on your mind or whatever you are thinking without caring how it will affect other people. Another way to say this is to be "blunt." When people "speak their mind" and are "blunt", they are very honest and say exactly what they are thinking even if it might insult someone else. Ex: She really speaks her mind. Ex: I rarely speak my mind, I don't like to upset people.
