What does "dumb" mean? When can I use this word?

"Dumb" originally was an offensive way to refer to someone who is unable or unwilling to speak. However nowadays, it is mostly used to refer to someone or something that is stupid, ignorant, or unintelligent. It depends on the context you use this word in, but usually "dumb" when referring to something stupid is not very rude. However, this word is informal. Ex: That play was so dumb. Next time we're going to watch a movie instead. Ex: My teacher always calls on me in class and makes me feel dumb.
