Kiwi asks…

What does "hoard" mean? Does it have a negative nuance?

Answer from a Native speaker

Rebecca

"Hoard" refers to obtaining and keeping many items and/or many of one type of item. "Hoard" has a negative nuance because it implies that someone who "hoards" items never gets rid of them, even when they should, or that they are "greedy". Ex: My mom hoards notebooks, she has hundreds of them.
