What does “save it” mean here?

teacher

Native speaker’s answer

Rebecca

When he says "save it for the race" here, he is telling to wait until the race starts to compete with each other. In other words, he is telling them to stop fighting. "Save it" by itself can be used to tell someone to stop talking. Ex: I've heard enough. Save it!
