A "chant" is a repeated shouting or singing of words that is usually without music and has a very simple melody if sung. It is often used in religious gatherings or in sports. Ex: We always do our team chant before starting a game. A "song", on the other hand, is usually a more complicated melody with many notes, and if sung includes lyrics and is often accompanied by music. Ex: She sang a beautiful song for us.
