What does "blocks" mean? The dictionary says it is rock or some division.

Actually, in America the term "block" is a term referring to distance. A block refers to a square, rectangular or irregularly shaped area surrounded by streets, but when we use them to describe distance, we are usually referring to just one side of the square—in which a block is the distance between two streets. Ex: I live 2 blocks from here. Ex: I usually just walk to school, it's only 4 blocks.
