There are a couple of ways to use "plague." You can use the word "plague" when a situation is causing distress, struggle, or difficulty in one's life, such as how it's being used here. Ex: The stress of the day plagued my mind throughout the night. Ex: His crime plagued him for many years. "Plague" can also be used when discussing a severely contagious bacterial infection. When someone discusses a plague, it's usually a historical one, like the bubonic plague. Ex: Around 25 million people died from the bubonic plague. Ex: The plague killed millions of people.
