As a verb, what's the difference between "want" and "wish"? Are they always interchangeable?
That's a good question! They do both express a desire for something, but they are not always interchangeable. The word "wish" can express a desire like a dream. It may not be possible to have, but you "wish" you could. Whereas "want" is used for more physical or realistic objects and goals. "Want" can also be used as a demand. Ex: This is so embarrassing. I wish I could turn invisible. Ex: In the future, I want to own five cars and a huge mansion. => While this goal is unlikely, it is not impossible.
