Yes, you can replace "as though" with "as if" here. "As if" and "as though" are both conjunctions. We use them to make comparisons. They have a very similar meaning. We use them to talk about an imaginary situation or a situation that may not be true, but that is likely or possible. In spoken conversation "as if" is more common than "as though". Also, in an informal conversation you may also hear"like" being used in place of "as if" or "as though". Ex: You look as if you saw a ghost. Ex: You look as though you saw a ghost. Ex: You look like you saw a ghost.
