What does "minor" mean here? Is it a set with "major"?

"Minor" is also an academic term! Just as "major" is used to refer to a college or university student's main area of study, a "minor" can be considered a subsidiary or sub-concentration of study. Many students in North America will have both a major and minor, although usually only fulfilling the requirements of a major is required to graduate. Ex: I major in economics, with a minor in geography. Ex: I minored in industrial design.
