Does "potentially" refer to frequency? Like "sometimes"?

"Potentially" means possibly; something could happen. It doesn't really refer to frequency and doesn't mean sometimes. It just means "could happen." Ex: He could potentially get sick from the food. Ex: The disease could potentially be fatal. Ex: Driving is potentially dangerous depending on the situation.
