Where do you usually put "perhaps" in the sentence? For example, I think this is more clear to understand of saying "perhaps offered the best calligraphy" than the script, but is there any difference between those two?
The word "perhaps" is an adverb which modifies a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. Most often, adverbs describe verbs, and so they are placed right before the verb. However, in this case, the adverb "perhaps" is describing the adjective "best", and so it is placed right before "best". So the placement of "perhaps" in a sentence depends on what particle it is describing in the sentence. Ex: Perhaps you should go ask the teacher for a pencil. Ex: She is perhaps the nicest person I've ever met.
