What is the difference between "Mummy" and "Mommy"?

They are both a child's word for mother. ‘Mummy’ or ‘Mum’ are used in Australia and Britain, mostly. North Americans prefer ‘Mommy’ or ‘Mom’. But be careful! If you were in the US and said 'mummy', most people would think of a dead body from Ancient Egypt.
