What's the difference between "woods" and "grove"?

Although there are technical differences, "woods" usually encompass large areas of land. "Groves" are smaller and usually consist of a small wood, orchard, or group of trees. Ex: There is a small grove of trees in my backyard. Ex: The woods are quite dark and spooky at night time.
