A "pit stop" is an area where a racing car can go to get necessary repairs; new tires, gas, etc. The "pit crew" are the people who make these repairs to the racing vehicle. "Pit stop" also has another meaning. If you take a road trip with native English speakers, you may hear them say, "Let's make a pit stop!" Even though this isn't associated with motorsports, it still means to stop somewhere to move around, get gas, pick up some food, etc. Here are a few example sentences with "pit crew" and "pit stop." Ex: The pit crew worked fast to get the car back in the race. Ex: Let's make a quick pit stop here! Ex: The Nascar driver made a pit stop to fix his tire.
