The two words are very similar, however, an "itinerary" is a proposed route or list of proposed things to do, usually for a trip or vacation. A "schedule" is a note of activities scheduled to be done at specific times. You can think of an itinerary as being more similar to a vacation route or checklist, whereas a schedule is more similar to a timetable or timeline. Ex: The travel company sent me an itinerary for my trip to New Zealand. Ex: My work schedule for next week is full.
