"I guess" is an informal expression that can be used when you want to show that you are slightly uncertain or reluctant about what you are saying. It expresses agreement that is not particularly strong. Ex: He's pretty smart, I guess. Ex: I guess you're right. "I mean" is a little different. It is used to correct what you have just said, or to add more information. It is also often an expression spoken out of habit to continue a sentence, and may not necessarily have any specific function. Ex: A: Why don't you like Joe? B: No reason.
