"Calm" usually refers to the environment or activity level of a place or person, whereas "quiet" usually refers to the sound level only. Thus, a place can be calm (low activity) but not quiet. Ex: Our dog is always very calm in the car. Ex: I am always calm, even I am angry. Ex: I have five kids, so our house is never quiet. Ex: This park is always very empty and quiet.
