Why is "sucked" past tense? Is it because the verb is in the subjunctive?

The second conditional is a structure used to talk about impossible or imaginary situations. To form the second conditional we use: If + past simple and would + infinitive. So in this case it is "If you sucked...would it look..." It doesn't matter which clause comes first, "if+past simple" or "would+infinitive". Ex: If I had wings I would travel the world. Ex: Where would you live if you could live anywhere in the world? Ex: If he didn’t argue with everyone all the time, he would have a more relaxed life.
