What is the difference between “on time” and “in time”?

Great question! "On time" means something happened by the time or right at the time it was supposed to. "In time" means something happened, and if it didn't happen by a certain time there would be a consequence. Ex: The bus was late, but luckily I'm still on time for work. Ex: You came just in time to see the firework show, you almost missed it!
