Are “trust” and “believe” same?

Very good question. Although they're very similar, there's a slight difference between the two words. It's possible to 'believe' in someone while not 'trusting' them. As you probably noticed, to 'trust' has a much stronger meaning than 'believe'. 'To believe' is to show acceptance or acknowledgment of someone or something. On the other hand, 'to trust' is used to portray reliance on someone or something's overall characteristics.
