"Homeschooling" usually means learning outside of the public or private school environment. Generally it is the teaching of children at home, usually by parents, hence the name "home" schooling. Many kids are homeschooled because their parents feel they can give their child a better education than the local school can. Parents also might choose "homeschooling' because they want their child's education to include religious teachings which may not be included in the local school system. Ex: We considered homeschooling but eventually moved our child to another school. Ex: Many parents decide to homeschool their children for religious reasons. Ex: All her kids were home-schooled. Ex: For those of us who choose to homeschool, it's a huge commitment.
