I haven't seen the word "map" used as a verb, but is it used commonly in verbal situation?

When referring to a GPS or a device giving you directions, it is common to use the word "map" as a verb. However, in other contexts, it is not common as a verb. Ex: I have the directions to the restaurant mapped on my phone. Ex: The GPS automatically maps you to where you want to go.
