"In" does not always have to go in front of "agony", although it is often in front of "agony". For example, "and" "the" and "of" can also be used before "agony". Ex: Her friend felt pain and agony after the tragedy. Ex: The agony he felt while in the hospital was intense. Ex: She experienced months of agony after he broke her heart.
