"Did you" is a grammatical inversion of "you did"? Could you explain why they are inverted?

He uses the form "did you" instead of "you did" here because he is repeating what was originally said by the other guy which was, "did I get him?". He's not stating that he "did get" him, but instead he wants to disregard what the other guy asked by showing that asking the question of "did I get him" is not important in this case. So he says "never mind did you get him" to show that asking this is irrelevant.
