What does "As though" mean here? Can I replace this with "like"?

"As though" is used to introduce a statement that is not true, but seems like it could be true, or a statement that is completely imaginary. You can replace "as though" with "like". Ex: You look pale and scared, as though you've seen a ghost. Ex: I feel so happy, I feel as though I'm floating on clouds.
