"Date" can also be a noun, and in this context is the person someone is going on a date with. It is slightly different from a boyfriend or girlfriend, as a date may be at a stage before an official relationship. Ex: My date is late. This is already giving me a bad impression. Ex: I'd like to introduce you all to Peter. He's my date tonight.
