Isn't it right to say "gifts" with a plural form? Or are both acceptable here?

Native speaker’s answer

Rebecca

"Gifts" and "gift" are acceptable to use here. She says "gift" because she is speaking as though someone is telling one of the people she mentioned "you are too young to practice your extraordinary gift". However, it would also make sense if she said "gifts" because that would imply that someone hypothetically told all of the people she mentioned that they "were too young to practice their extraordinary gifts".
