How different are "misadventure" and "adventure"?

"Misadventure" and "adventure" have opposite meanings. A "misadventure" refers to an incident that went wrong, or a mishap. An "adventure" refers to an exciting journey. Ex: My family had a misadventure when we got lost on our vacation. Ex: When I went hiking in the mountains, it was an adventure.
