Great question. The expression "look forward" is a common expression in English. However, it can have two very different meanings depending on context. Here it is being used to mean to project oneself in one's imagination to some future time, and guess what one might find. So essentially he is saying it is impossible to "predict the future". This is also sometimes phrased with the preposition "into", so "look forward into" the future. The other meaning is of "look forward to". It means to expect or anticipate (something) with pleasure. It is used to say that you are happy that something is going to happen. Ex: It is hard to look forward and imagine where I will be in 10 years. Ex: Looking forward we can expect to have some finance issues in the next few months. Ex: The kids are looking forward to their holiday vacation. Ex: He had so much to look forward to at his new job.
