The U.S Army is broken down into 3 different categories, the 'Enlisted Ranks', 'Warrant Officer Ranks', and the 'Officer Ranks'. The 'Enlisted Ranks' or 'soldiers' are broken down into three groups, the 'Junior Enlisted' which include the ranks of Private, Private First Class, and Specialist, 'NCOs(Non-Commissioned Officers)' which include Corporal, Sergeant, Staff Sergeant, and Senior NCOs, which include Sergeant First Class, Master Sergeant/First Sergeant, and Sergeant Major. The 'Warrant Officer Ranks' specialize in specific military technologies or capabilities and hold the same authority as commissioned officers. They are broken down into Warrant Officer 1, Chief Warrant Officer 2-5. The 'Officer Ranks' or 'commissioned officers' lead enlisted soldiers in all situations. They are broken down into three tiers, 'Company Grade' officers which include the ranks of Second Lieutenant, First Lieutenant, and Captain, 'Field Grade' officers which include Major, Lieutenant Colonel, and Colonel, and 'General' which include Brigadier General(one-star), Major General(two-star), Lieutenant General(three-star), and General(four-star).
