"Soccer" is a sport where two teams kick a round ball around a field. These players cannot touch the ball with their hands and kick the ball into a net. This sport is popular all over the world. "Football" is a popular American sport where two teams throw and kick an oval ball and tackle one another. There are eleven players on each team, and the points vary—one point for a field goal and six points for a touchdown. Keep in mind that "soccer" is actually called football in England and other parts of the world except in the United States. Ex: The Vikings are an American football team based in Minnesota. Ex: Soccer involves way too much running for me. Ex: Football is a high-contact sport and has caused severe head injuries. Ex: The World Cup is a significant event in soccer.
