What's the difference of "flee" and "run away"?

"Flee" and "run away" carry the same general meaning, however, "flee" implies a greater sense of urgency and a need to run away because of immediate danger. In this way, "flee" is more powerful than "run away". Ex: He fled from the scene of the crime.
