What does "raiders" mean? Does it have the same meaning as "bandits"?

These words are slightly different. A "raider" is a person who enters a place illegally and steals violently from that place. A "bandit" is a thief with a weapon, especially one belonging to a group attacking people traveling through the countryside. Ex: The raiders crossed the river and stole money from the villagers. Ex: In the game of Skyrim, you need to be careful of bandits when traveling.
