Do I only have to use the verb "run" for "test"?

Not at all! There are different verbs that you can use in place of "run." You can use do, take, or perform. You may have to reword the sentence a bit depending on the word you choose, but these words will be fine to replace "run." Ex: We need to perform a few tests on him. Ex: I'm going to have to do a few tests on him. Ex: We will need to take a few tests before surgery.
