Is it common to use "she" as a pronoun for an audio player?

teacher

Native speaker’s answer

Rebecca

It's quite uncommon to use pronouns like "she" or "he" to refer to inanimate objects in English. However, Eddie is clearly very fond of his CD carousel, and has thus used "she" to refer to it in an affectionate way. You might occasionally hear people refer to their prized possessions (especially cars) with "he" or "her," in a humorous and exaggerated way. Ex: She can reach 200 in ten seconds. She's the fastest car I've ever driven. Ex: This watch is a beauty. She's inlaid with 100 diamonds.
