An "inhospitable" place or area is somewhere that is not suitable for humans to live in. Ex: They had to trek for miles through inhospitable countryside. Ex: Antarctica is an inhospitable environment. The term "inhospitable" can also mean that a person is not welcoming or generous to people who visit them. Ex: I'll have to cook them a meal or they'll think I'm inhospitable.
