"To take off" significa "irse de repente" o "irse rápidamente". "Take off" también puede significar "irse enfadado", mientras que "leave" no incluye los matices anteriores. Sin embargo, "take off" no significa siempre que alguien se vaya apresuradamente, simplemente puede significar irse con prisa. Ej: "She took off after hearing his offensive comments." (Se fue de repente, tras oír sus comentarios ofensivos.) Ej: "I have to take off because I have a meeting to go to. " (Me tengo que ir corriendo porque tengo que ir a una reunión.)
