What does "along" mean here? Can I use to other verb as well like "write along"?

"Along" in this situation means "with." You are doing something with others. These boys said they laughed along with the other kids when the boy Michael was being bullied. To answer your second question, yes! You can use different words in front of "along." Ex: Would you like to ride along with me? Ex: Please follow along in your books. Ex: Could I tag along?
