Hopping and jumping are both actions that require one to use one's feet to push off the ground with force. You can consider a hop to be a light or small jump, and it is usually done with one foot. A jump is made with both feet and uses more force. Ex: Hopscotch is a popular children's game that requires you to hop on one foot over a pattern of rectangles on the ground. Ex: The step was too steep to walk down, so I had to jump off it.
