To "end up" in some place is to reach a place or be in a situation after doing other things. It refers to the final place/destination after some other activities. So, the plastic straws will go to landfills after their use. Ex: I am not sure how, but we ended up in the middle of town. Ex: My sister ended up teaching English in Spain. Ex: Most of the scraps of meat will end up in dog food.
