What does "roomie" mean?

teacher

Native speaker’s answer

"Roomie" is short form for the word roommate. It is used to describe a person you share a room with, usually at university or school of some kind. This is a pretty American phrase as, in the UK for example, you do not share rooms at university. Ex: Hey. You must be my new roomie. Ex: Laura is the only one who doesn't have a roomie.
