Great questions. To "plan on" doing something means you intend to do something. In conversation, there is not much difference in meaning between "plan" and "plan on". "Plan" is more commonly used and "plan on" is a little more informal or casual. Ex: Do you plan to go to the wedding? Ex: Do you plan on going to the wedding? Ex: I plan on becoming a signer. Ex: I plan to become a singer.
