Wouldn't it be too sour or sweet to make a sauce with cranberry? Is "Cranberry sauce" a common ingredient in American meals?

"Cranberry sauce" is not a common ingredient in American meals, and is usually only eaten on Thanksgiving for tradition. It is made with cranberries and sugar, but is also sold in a can pre-made which a lot of people buy. A lot of people don't like cranberry sauce because it is very sour, however, it is usually good paired with a saltier dish prepared on Thanksgiving like turkey or mashed potatoes and gravy.
