Is "Many a savory dish" grammatically correct? Shouldn't it be "many of savory dishes"?

The phrase "many a" something is an old-fashioned and literary way of saying "many". So "many a savory dish" is grammatically correct, although it is very old and not commonly used anymore. Ex: The war killed many a soldier. Ex: I've tamed many a horse.
