"Beg" is different from "ask" because it usually means that someone desperately needs or wants something, and so they request something because of their need. Ex: The homeless man is begging for food. Ex: I begged him to come with me but he wouldn't. Ex: Children should learn not to beg. Instead, they should ask politely.
