"Grumpy" means to have a bad temper or to be an irritable person. Being "grumpy" doesn't necessarily mean that your character is nasty. It just means you are feeling irritable that day. However, if you are called a grumpy person, it usually means that people find you irritable most of the time. Ex: He's always so grumpy. I don't think I've ever seen him happy. => negative connotation Ex: I'm feeling a little grumpy today. =>no connotation
