These two words are easy to mix up. "Affect" is usually used as a verb and means "to make a difference to; to influence". "Effect" is usually used as a noun and means "the result of something happening." An example sentence of "affect" would be: "The warm weather will affect the crops this summer." An example sentence of "effect" would be: "Her speech had a surprising effect on the audience."
